Furniture & lighting

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Designing and manufacturing bespoke furniture and lighting is a particular challenge for CDS Architectural Metalwork, and it’s a challenge which we relish. When we get a design brief we set our design team to work and with the input from all the trades we can come up with very rewarding results.

Stainless steel table top lighting.

Table frames were manufactured from 304 grade satin polished stainless steel. these items were Lazer cut, polished, fabricated and then polished again.

CDS back at The O2

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

We got the opportunity to go back into The O2 a few weeks ago to do some small maintenance. It was nice to have a look around again when the building was empty. The metalwork looks as good as the day it was installed. The architectural metalwork package included mildsteel balustrades to floors, stairs landings and escalator voids, glass surrounds to the lifts with stainless steel handrails and all the tubular rails etc in the auditorium.

On this project we managed to conceal almost all of the welding by the design or by edge preparation and then polishing completely. Welds, as I said before should not be visible when it comes to Architectural Metalwork.

Martin.

Roof top terrace and Balcony

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

We have just completed an architectural metalwork project where the client wished to use the roof of his property fully and also required some privacy. To create this ideal we used stainless steel balustrade posts with stainless steel tubular handrail and then we installed satinized glass panels for privacy.

The posts we manufactured incorporated a glass clamp with gaskets and so eliminated any gaps at the side through which a rather uncomfortable breeze can blow.

The horizontal lines were created using 25×10 satin polished stainless steel flat bars and look really good from either side.

Again, the finished piece looks rather fine, even if I do say so myself. well done lads and keep up the good work.

Martin.

Metalwork in the Home

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Here are more samples of metalwork in the Home. Architectural Metalwork is not only confined to the Shopping Centres and Office Blocks.

Here we used 25 diameter satin polished stainless steel rods with machines ends and a stainless steel collar to cover the holes we had to drill in the timber work.

This is a stainless steel bridge linking to a bedroom. We used toughened and laminated glass in both the floor and the balustrades.  It  is both functional and decorative.

This is a Stainless steel staircase with glass treads and stainless steel and glass balustrade. This stairs actually covered 3 floors nad the view from the top landing is fabulous and the glass treads  really allows light to pass through.

Again as I always say, a little planning for your metalwork at an early stage can give brilliant results.

Regards, Martin.
