Schools Balustrade without visible welds.

Friday, April 6th, 2012

As we outlined in previous blogs we explore all posibilities when looking at a metalwork package so we can eliminate visible welds if at all possible. We succeeded in achieving this on this particular project.
This work was carried out in our factory in Ballyfoyle for Midland Construction Limited on their schools projects in Kerry.

This is what we refer to as metalwork joinery. We fabricated this project on the drawing board. Detailig all parts so they could be lazer cut to shape, polished, welded together and welds polished to become invisible.

At CDS Architectural Metalwork we design with this level of finish in mind from the start of each project, wheater it’s mildsteel balustrades, stainlesss steel balustrades, handrails, canopies or even railings. When welding is considered at this level then the end product can really be a metalwork piece which enhances theire buildings and not just functional.

When our clients request polished welds on a finished piece of metalwork then that is exactly what we supply.

When it comes to mildsteel balustrades or stainless steel balustrades and handrails on concrete staircases we also apply the same ideals. Here we have flat plate posts cut to shape to accomadate the handrail brackets and again no unsightly welds.

We used mildsteel perforated on these staircase balustrades and once the painters are completed their work the metalwork package will look great.

If you would like further details on our approach to metalwork packages please do not hesitate to call us.

Metalwork Joinery…………..

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Any of our regular visitors to our site and workshop will be in no doubt aware of our endless persuit of weldless Architectural Metalwork. We are always on about fabricating pieces so that the welds are either fully polished or invisible.
Well………… We are fabrication 2 such metalwork packages at the minute. They consist of 2 feature staircases and all the associated balustrades to match.

We are polishing as many of the visible welded joints as possible but we are fabrication the other elements so as to avoid welding.

We have spent the time on the drawing board and detailed all the items so they are lazer cut and slot into each other perfectly and welded from the back.

Strength is on no way compromised and the appereance is just on another level.

We even carried this through to the stair treads.

When the fabrication of such metalwork pieces is thought out and full consideration given to the design and final apperance the end results can really be amazing.

Please feel free to contact us or even visit our factory to see for yourself what really can be done.

Martin.

Mildsteel Balustrades in staircases

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

With metal fabrication and polishing technology readily available these days there is no need to be accepting anything other than excellent workmanship on your Architectural Metalwork project. Welds should be effective obviously but neat also and where possible polished. Safety for the end user is also a consideration and burrs and rough edges left on pieces is just carelessness.

All tubular joints, especially in a mildsteel balustrade and handrail situation the tube should be properly polished. The joints should become invisible.

Horizontal and raking lines should be maintained and not allowed to differ. Do not accept anything other than excellent workmanship. Metal Fabricators have given 4 years training and learning the skills of proper metal fabrication and so all are well capabable of delivering.

Do not accept near enough, because near enough is not good enough!

Martin.
