The use of stainless steel in the design of Feature staircases and architectural metalwork can be seen as cold and clinical, but if you stretch the limits a bit and with the use of some inovative fabrication techniques the results can be outstanding.
We are currently manufacturing such a stairs and we are at the final polishing stage by now. This has been a long and delicate fabrication process but when you see it coming together it is well worth the effort.

A stairs in the home is more than a means of getting from one floor to another, it is also a piece of furniture. However this piece of furniture cannot be thrown out when you are fed up looking at it so it needs to be right from the start.

Here, we installed a mildsteel spiral staircase complete with glass balustrades and used aluminium treads. The finished piece works very well with it’s surroundings.

We carried this theme through to the mezzanine then which allows light to travel through the room.

So, as I was saying, a stairs is a feature and once the design is well prepared and thought out and the workmanship is to a high standard there is no reason why your idea cannot become a reality.

I have just realised that I haven’t been showing you many of our Metal Staircase projects of late and so I have decided to showcase some of our fine work.

This is a complete stainless steel staircase we manufactured in our factory in Kilkenny and polished completely to 240 grit satin polish finish. The balustrade consists of folded plate to form channel and tubular handrails. We used 5mm stainless steel tension cables as the infill in the balustrades. The finish looks amazing.

This is the Main staircase in the lobby of Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny. It is manufactured using mildsteel tubes as the main supports and profiled plates to form the supports for the timber treads. The glass is supported by the stainless steel machined fittings coming from the sides of the support tubes. The result is pretty good.

Here are some images of a staircase and landing balustrade we installed recently in a home. The stairs is manufactured from mildsteel and finished in black and the glass is fixed to the sides of the stringers with a stainless steel flat bar fixed to the top section of the glass with timber slip handrail.

The treads are manufactured from oak and have a double stainless steel anti slip strip in each of them. This staircase was installed before the roof was put on the building and so eliminated any bolts or unsightly joints to the steel members. This goes back to what I said in earlier blogs that design is crucial at an early stage.
