Guinness Storehouse

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

We are in the middle of a fitout project on the 4th floor of the Guinness Storehouse in conjunction with Townlink Construction Limited.
The project involves structural steel support steel to make more floor space, some changes to feature tanks and some display walls.

Structural Beams are currently being fabricated and installation will begin immediately.

Our architectural metalwork package is pretty fast track as the finish date is fixed.

Regards,
Martin.

Cliff edge Safety Rail post…….. Walks can be made safer.

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

We are now in a position to offer to the market our latest product which we have been design and working on over the past few years. We can produce railings, cable railings, sign posts and directional posts

The benifits with this rail system are;
* Marine grade stainless steel.
* Outlasts other materials.
* Mirror polished finish which reflects it’s surroundings.
* Blends into the landscape due to it’s unique shape.
* Structural integrity does not change from season to season.
* Large holes are not needed.
* Heavy plant is not needed to install.
* Posts can take sheep wire, barbed wire, bull wire, electric fencing or stainless steel tension cables.
* No maintenance is required once installed.

These posts are available immediately.

Our rail system is a unique way of making scenic areas, walks and cliff edges safer to use.
Call us for more information or to arrange a meeting.

Regards,
Martin.

Polished welds…………….

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

The old argument continues I’m afraid. In the opinion of us here at CDS Architectural Metalwork welding is a means of joining 2 metal pieces together and should not be seen with regards to feature metalwork pieces.

When polished welds are called up by the design team then this is what you should be getting and nothing less.
However this level of finish takes time and patience and once the fabricators are trained and experienced then achieving this level of finish is not a problem and should be sought after.

Mildsteel or stainless steel, polishing welds looks fantastic when done correctly.

So………… insist on polishing on metalwork. Balustrades, handrail, metal staircases or whatever, if it’s a feature piece look for quality finishing to your design.

Here is an example of hidden welds. These posts are manufactured from mildsteel sections and all of the welds in the caps are hidden or polished.

Another example of proper polishing. After the process the edges should remain true to shape and not be rounded off from the machines travelling too heavy on the ends.

We can provide samples if required just give us a call.

Regards,
Martin.
